Ciaran Mc Ginn, trading as Home Energy Route, is an independent homeowner-to-installer enquiry service operating in Northern Ireland. Home Energy Route is not a heating installer.
Who is responsible for your information?
For enquiries submitted through this website, Ciaran Mc Ginn trading as Home Energy Route is responsible for deciding how the information is used. You can contact us at homeenergyroute@gmail.com.
What information do we collect?
Depending on what you provide, this can include your name, phone number, optional email address, postcode, property type, number of bedrooms, current heating type, boiler age, intended timescale, whether you would consider alternatives, and whether you have a boiler photo available. We also record your consent and the date it was given.
Why do we use it?
We use the information to assess your enquiry, determine whether it is suitable for our service, contact you about that enquiry, and where appropriate share it with a relevant heating professional so they can contact you about the enquiry.
Our legal basis
For the enquiry and sharing it with a relevant heating professional, our legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw consent or ask us to delete your information by contacting homeenergyroute@gmail.com. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.
Who may receive your information?
If your enquiry is suitable, we may share relevant details with a heating professional who can potentially help with the work described in your enquiry. We aim to share only the information needed to handle the enquiry. The professional may then process your information under their own privacy notice and responsibilities.
Marketing
We do not currently use enquiry details for unrelated marketing. We will not treat your enquiry consent as consent to send unrelated marketing communications.
How long do we keep it?
We intend to keep enquiry records for up to 12 months after the enquiry is received, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary for a legal, regulatory, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution purpose. We will then delete or securely anonymise the information where practicable.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights including access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, objection, and the right to withdraw consent. You can exercise these rights by emailing homeenergyroute@gmail.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you believe your information has been handled unlawfully.
Cookies and advertising measurement
We use the Google Ads tag on the website to measure whether advertising leads to genuine enquiries. Google may use advertising cookies or similar identifiers when you allow measurement. We use Google Consent Mode so that advertising measurement signals follow your choice. You can decline measurement when the consent banner is shown.
Automated scoring
We use a simple automated scoring model to help prioritise enquiries based on information you provide, such as the type of help you need, boiler age and intended timescale. The score is used for internal prioritisation and does not by itself refuse your enquiry, determine your eligibility for a service, set a price, or make a legal or similarly significant decision about you. We may review enquiries manually.
Security
We use access controls and server-side storage for enquiry data and take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the service develops. The latest version will be published on this page.
